INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES TEAM

United Sports Cyprus addresses the lack of afternoon sports programs for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) in Cyprus. Our mission is to develop athletic abilities while celebrating the diversity and unique contributions of each participant. We aim to establish sports opportunities and safe spaces in various cities, with plans to expand and include more sports.

Our ultimate goal is to create an island-wide sports league that promotes inclusivity and breaks down societal barriers. We will host weekly training sessions and organize unified sports tournaments. These activities provide opportunities for individuals with ID and enhance the professional development of coaches and youth workers.

We stress the need for collaboration among stakeholders to implement inclusive development strategies and uphold the basic human rights of all individuals. Through sports, we aim to shift the narrative from focusing on limitations to celebrating the capabilities and talents of our athletes, fostering a more harmonious community.
